New School & New Grade

Hello --
I am so excited!!  I will be the kindergarten teacher at Augustus Tolton Catholic Academy starting next month.  I was offered a contract on Saturday, June 20th, and I have signed my contract.  I don't have a copy yet since Father Matt needed to sign it also.

I got to see my room when I went back to sign my contract.  Here are some pictures:

Bulletin Board across one wall.  (Summer School was  going on in my room.)

Door on the right.  Open cubbies for student jackets and bookbags along this wall.

My chalk board along this wall with a door on the right and a door on the left.

The last wall of my rectangular room has windows with storage underneath.  No carpeting.

I have a few ideas for where I will put the daily calendar, numbers 1 - 20, the alphabet (or should I say many alphabet charts), and my library.  I am going through my books at home to get just the right books for kindergarten and trying to level them.  I have one large area rug but I hope to get another one.  I want this room to be welcoming and a great place for learning!

Tolton Academy will be a STREAM school -- Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, Math.  Science kits have been ordered and I cannot wait to get started!

As soon as I get part of my room decorated (August 17th ????) I will be posting more pictures.

Looking forward to meeting my Super Kinders on August 24th -- the first day of school!

End of the Year Celebration

The kindergarteners who will be coming to my classroom in the Fall don't know that I will not be their teacher.  That is ok.  They will succeed with the new teacher.  They have been well prepared by their kindergarten teacher and she will be staying at the school.

Their graduation ceremony was held in the church on Wednesday, June 3rd at 10:00.  Here are a few picture of them:

Afterward the parents and families were treated to a few goodies in the school hall.  Their teacher said the parents just loved the silhouettes that we made of them.  Easy, peasy.....  and so adorable.

It was a small class so they got lots of added attention and learning.

Good Luck to these students and their teacher next year!

Race for Education - Friday, May 1, 2015

Race For Education was a huge success!  The weather was perfect for our walk from St. Ailbe School to Jesse Owen Park.  The students had a fantastic time at the park before they had to walk back to school for lunch and more fun.  Here are some pictures:

One of my boys brought a huge ball to play with at the park.

The seventh grade girls were a big help with the younger kids.

She'll be in first grade next year.

The whole school had a fantastic day.  The weather was not too cold and not too hot.  The walk was a long one for the kids who do not get much exercise, including ME.  I was beat!

Marvelous Monday

Marvelous Monday!

Love that my kiddos are saying the prayer over the intercom first thing in the morning.  We also say the Pledge of Allegiance as a school.

I love the Good Morning Work for April that has my students thinking.  We are doing this for Reading and Math.  Our MAP testing continues this week.  Today the first graders went to the computer lab.  I love working with the second graders when the first graders are gone.  It is so quiet and they can concentrate.

Four students didn’t get their work done so they came after lunch to finish.  They quickly finished so they could go outside to play.  I had lunch/recess break today.  I have Monday, Wednesday, and Friday break this week.

Here are a couple of pictures of my students with their paper plate shakers they made for music class.  They have had homework projects this year.  It is very interesting to see what the music teacher can come up with.

I hope you all had a Marvelous Monday!  See you soon.<meta name="p:domain_verify" content="afd5655b159c68f04e1e56f63e213216"/>
